Living somewhere in the weather extremes

Well, hail stayed most of the day on the ground. Temperatures were in the 50s. Yesterday, 90+ degree weather. I just cannot even imagine (though I know it to be true) that people who have no local relatives somehow dreamed of living here. The winds today were bad enough that I couldn't let Eileen open the car door (though same was true on Friday - with a wildfire within a mile of our house) for fear that it would be slammed on her by mother nature.
